Dolly Parton Imagination Library – February 2024 Update

February was I Love to Read Month and the elementary students at the Morris Area Elementary School and St. Mary’s wanted to share their love of reading with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library participants of Stevens County.

MAES did a Coins for Kids drive and collected $846 (that was a whole lot of coins!!). With that collection, MAES students sponsored 33 children to receive books for an entire year!  There was a little incentive, for each child that was sponsored, a teacher or staff was ‘given the privilege’ to be in front of the whole student body and dance to 9 to 5, a very popular Dolly Parton song.

Not to be outdone, St. Mary’s students also collected money and the teacher or staff with the most money donated in “their honor’ got a pie in the face! The St. Mary’s collection sponsored 25 children for an entire year.

Special Thank you to Morris AmVets Post 290 for your sponsorship. Because of you, over 300 children received books in the mail in the month of March.
